  3.            Converting from Diopters to Radii
  4.  
  5. Some keratometers have the power drums marked in diopters 
  6. only while others will give both dioptric and radius values.  
  7. Often in contact lens fitting you want to know the radius of 
  8. the cornea.
  9.  
  10. If your keratometer is only marked with dioptric values, you 
  11. can convert the dioptric value to radius by using the 
  12. following formula:

  14.                                                   (1.3375-1.00)
  15.                 radius (meters)=  -------------
  16.                                                        diopters
  17.  
  18. Usually you want the value in millimeters, to obtain the 
  19. millimeter value you can multiply the above result by 1000 
  20. or more easily use the following formula:

  22.                                             337.5
  23.                radius (mm)= --------
  24.                                          diopters
  25. Most contact lens textbooks and manuals that come with the keratometer provide tables that have conversion tables  
  26. Contact lens laboratories often supply them.
